Production Process of Forged Valves

The forging production process takes the plastic deformation of the forging as the core and consists of a series of processing procedures. (1) The pre-forging process mainly includes blanking and heating processes. The blanking process prepares the original blank according to the specifications and dimensions required for the forging. If necessary, the original blank should be treated with rust removal, surface defect removal, oxidation prevention and lubrication; the heating process is adjusted according to the heating temperature and production cycle required for forging deformation The original blank is heated. (2) Forging deformation process Plastic deformation is performed on the blanks on various forging equipment to complete the basic quality requirements of the internal and external forgings. The process may include several procedures. (3) Process after forging deformation After forging deformation, the cooling process of the forging is immediately followed. Then, in order to supplement the shortcomings of the previous process and make the forgings fully meet the requirements of the forging product drawings, a series of processes such as trimming and punching (for forging dies), heat treatment, calibration, and surface cleaning are also required. Sometimes, the cooling after forging is closely combined with the heat treatment process to obtain a specific forging structure and properties. Quality inspections must be carried out between each process and before the forgings leave the factory. The inspection items include aggregate shape and size, surface quality, metallographic structure and mechanical properties, etc., which are determined according to the requirements of semi-finished products and forgings between procedures. The essence of forging is to apply external force to the blank by a tool or die. The blank absorbs mechanical energy, and changes in the distribution of the stress state occur inside, resulting in displacement and deformation flow of material particles; for hot forging, the blank also absorbs heat energy due to heating , The corresponding temperature distribution changes inside. Driven by force and heat, the blank produces changes in appearance, shape, size, and internal structure and properties.

Quality Inspection of Forged Valves

The quality inspection items of forgings are as follows: (1) Geometry and size The general dimensions of forgings are inspected by measuring tools such as steel rulers, calipers, and prototypes; forgings with complex shapes can be accurately inspected by scribing. (2) Surface quality If there are cracks, crushing defects, or folding defects on the surface of the forgings, they can generally be found with the naked eye. Sometimes the crack is very small and the depth of the fold is not known, it can be observed after cleaning the shovel; if necessary, the flaw detection method can be used to check. (3) Internal organization Whether there are cracks, inclusions, looseness and other defects inside the forging, the macroscopic structure of the forging section can be inspected with the naked eye or with a magnifying glass of 10 to 30 times. The commonly used method in production is acid etching inspection, that is, to cut samples from the forging parts that need to be inspected, and then etch them with acid to clearly show the defects of the macrostructure on the section, such as forging streamline distribution, cracks and inclusions. Wait. (4) Metallographic inspection With the help of metallographic microscope to observe the inspection method of the fracture structure of forgings, items such as carbide distribution, grain size and decarburization depth can be inspected. (5) Mechanical properties The test items of mechanical properties are mainly hardness, tensile strength and impact toughness. Sometimes cold bending test, fatigue test, etc. can also be done according to the design requirements of the parts. The above quality inspection items are sometimes adopted separately according to design requirements and actual production conditions, sometimes inspected piece by piece, and sometimes randomly inspected according to each batch of forgings. Through the quality inspection, the qualification of the forging can be assessed. For defective forgings, the causes should be analyzed and measures to prevent defects should be proposed.

Equipment and Technology of Forgings

Forging equipment refers to mechanical equipment used for forming and separating in forging processing. Forging equipment includes forming forging hammers, mechanical presses, hydraulic presses, screw presses and flat forging machines, as well as forging manipulators, decoilers, straightening machines, shears, and other auxiliary equipment.
